Amazing!

Hello beautiful people! While I was surfing throughout the internet, I came upon a ground-breaking invention that, in my opinion, is awesome! When I signed off of my hotmail account, I was exposed to the current news around the world. However, out of all the other posts, besides the bikini model that was dousing herself with milk,  I found one rather interesting. You wouldn’t believe it but I saw a video of a flying bicycle! This amazing invention will lead to even better ones which will make the future look more like the futuristic movies we see.

Below is the video that caused me to almost fall out of my chair with excitement:

Hello guys! So I stumbled across this happy story while navigating in my crappy computer. Tracy Connor from NBC News reported that nine years before a rescue from kidnap, the police came where three women were being held captive! The three women who were rescued are Amanda Berry, Gina DeJesus and Michelle Knight who were reported missing for a very long time. the cops showed up to Ariel Castro’s, a school bus driver, home in Cleveland after he left behind the girls in his bus back in 2004. A neighbor called the police after seeing a woman with a baby attempting to escape from the house, he phoned the police in 2011. However, after various attempts to get him to answer the door by pounding on it several times, they looked in his driveway and left. the three women vanished from the public eye on August 2002 to April 2004. The women were between 14 to 20 years of age. Despite this unfortunate event, they HAVE BEEN RESCUED and released from their nightmare!

Red-Sided Garter Snakes!

Posted on

There was an article posted today by Jay Jones on the Los Angeles Times that really captured my attention! The arrival of warmer weather  to the plains of central Manitoba, Canada, brings along with it a bunch of snakes that have been sheltered in their limestone bedrock during the cooling temperatures. For every female, dozens of males wrap around her to get a chance to mate. Poor female! Turns out that these snakes are harmless during this time because they are so busy with hooking up with a female, they, disregard human interference. However, one must always take precautions because they may bite but it’s really just a nip. These busy snakes must work efficiently because their mating season is a short one. After two or three weeks, the females move back to the marshes to spend the summer and hatch their eggs!

Pollution At Los Angeles County

I was reading yesterday an article from the LA Times by Hector Becerra stating that three of the ten most polluted ZIP codes in California are from the Los Angeles County. The top three places on the list of polluted ZIP Codes were all in the San Joaquin Valley: Fresno, Bakersfield and Stockton. In fact, two of the most polluted ZIP Codes were in Fresno and three were in Stockton. Once I finished reading this, I asked myself a question: Why am I not surprised?

A Bomb at Santa Monica College?

At the Los Angeles Times Newspaper, Richard Winton, Kurt Streeter and Andrew Blankstein wrote today, April 23, 2013, a really surprising report. After the bombing at Boston, fear of other possible bomb threats spread throughout the nation. Many people, mistakenly thinking there is a bomb, have increasingly called the bomb squad around five to seven times a day. Santa Monica College, was a mere reflection of these calls for fear of the possibility of there being a bomb anywhere. The popular college was evacuated Tuesday to eliminate any risk for the students.

Hey guys it’s me again! I stumbled into a post from the LA Times about cyber bullying by the LA Times staff on April 12 around 9 pm. It’s unfortunate bullying still goes on around the globe. Today, a victim of such a happening commits suicide. After being sexually assaulted by three high school boys, 15-year-old Audrie Pott hanged herself in September. Students shared photos of the boy’s attack on their cell phones, tempting her to commit suicide. It’s sad that these things happen but I’m afraid  bullying is never going to end unless we take strong actions against it!

Not much of these anymore…

I recently read an article from LA Times regarding the decline of the monarch butterfly population. According to Richard Fausset’s article released on March 13 like around five-thirty in the afternoon, the large decline of monarch butterflies (shrank 59%) is due to the dramatic changes in the weather happening in the United Sates as well as the loss of habitat in the U.S Corn Belt.  Tourism in Mexico is starting to be affected because states like Michoacan and the capital of Mexico rely on the butterflies as a tourist attraction. However, studies have also shown that the herbicide glyphosate has been used in the U.S where the butterfly feeds and breeds.

Just Saw Wreck-It Ralph

What I truly love about the movies these days is the ability of conveying a powerful message behind a children’s movie. They teach one the important virtues society has forgotten to acknowledge or recognize. One is too busy worrying about materialistic things that we fail to admire what is most evident. Ralph wanted to prove himself a hero and was tired of societies pressures and stereotypes. He was consistently told he couldn’t change what he was perceived to be. Again, society disregards what the individual holds inside. By the end of the movie, Ralph forgot about the metal that was “going to change his life” but rather figured that he was a good person all along. He was more focused on proving to others he was a hero but in reality, he was trying to prove himself a better person.

President of Venezuela, Hugo Chavez, Dies

After a long struggle of combating cancer, Hugo Chavez died today, March 5, at 4:25 pm in Cuba only at the age of 58. From the time he won election in 1999, Chavez held onto power through tightly controlling the media and through a series of populist elections, including one that allowed him to seek a limitless number of terms. Chris Kraul’s and Carol J. Williams’ article really struck me due to the fact that a very powerful figure falls from cancer illness. Hugo Chavez always displayed a strong character and at times seemed invincible. However, it is clear that not even he was able to fight off cancer.Chávez’s death, announced by Nicolás Maduro, the vice-president, came almost two years after he was diagnosed with cancer in June 2011. He then declared himself cured twice, was operated on four times and also underwent chemotherapy and radiotherapy. Now the country faces new candidates for the Presidential seat: Vice President Nicolás Maduro has been leading the country every since Chavez departed to Cuba and a former trade unionist, Henrique Capriles running for election.

My Top Five Favorite Books of All Time

As mentioned earlier, I am a total bookworm. I enjoy reading so much that my mom came to the point of hiding the books from me, saying that reading prevented  me from “doing daily life activities”. However, I continued my excessive passion towards books, projecting those images from my imagination. Here are the top five books:

  1. The House of the Scorpion by Nancy Farmer
  2. 100 Years of Solitude by Gabriel Garcia Marquez
  3. The Pillars of the Earth by Ken Follett
  4. A Piece of Cake by Cupcake Brown
  5. The Lightening Thief by Rick Riordan

I enjoy reading Science Fiction or just fictional books. This is an awesome book that captured my attention when I was in middle school. I have read it five times and never get tired of reading it.
